So much for keeping up with this challenge. I think the part-assembled jigsaw downstairs is distracting me.

Day 5

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Here goes, then:

Pride and Pimpernel (1384 words) by ardentaislinn
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen, The Scarlet Pimpernel - Baroness Orczy
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Elizabeth Bennet/Fitzwilliam Darcy, Marguerite Blakeney/Percy Blakeney
Characters: Elizabeth Bennet, Fitzwilliam Darcy, Marguerite Blakeney, Percy Blakeney
Additional Tags: Secret Identity, Stranded, Storms, Crossover
Summary: A sudden storm strands Elizabeth and Darcy at a coaching inn where they meet a mysterious couple.

A fun little vignette based on Sir Percy's in-universe reputation, and Elizabeth's reaction to meeting the man in person.

Low Town (25363 words) by JJPOR
Chapters: 4/4
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005), Doctor Who, Doctor Who (1963), Doctor Who & Related Fandoms
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death
Characters: Castellan Kelner, Andred (Doctor Who), Borusa (Doctor Who), Romana I, Hedin (Doctor Who), Castellan Spandrell, Rodan (Doctor Who)
Additional Tags: Deadly Assassin 2: Electric Boogaloo, Gallifrey Noir, Time Lords, Fourth Doctor Era
Summary: A murder on Gallifrey is bad enough; the murder of a prominent Time Lord in the heart(s) of Prydon Academy is even worse. Fortunately, Castellan Spandrell is on the case.

I knew I would have to include one of [personal profile] jjpor's works in this post, and I've got a soft spot for this one because it was written from a prompt of mine. A gloriously detailed noir-style mystery set in the decadent, corrupt Gallifrey that's only half-glimpsed in the TV series.

Jumpsuits and Crinolines (817 words) by kathkin
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Doctor Who, Doctor Who (1963)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Zoe Heriot/Victoria Waterfield
Additional Tags: Femslash February, their love is so AU, Sharing Clothes
Summary: “I don’t dare,” said Zoe. “If I move I’ll fall over. I’ll get stuck on my back like a tortoise.” Victoria and Zoe trade outfits. The Doctor can't tell them apart.

It's one of those counterfactuals that delights fandom: how would two companions who never met onscreen get along together? In this case, Victoria, the proper lady from the 19th century, and Zoe, the tomboy from the 21st, are natural foils for each other, and it's fun to see them getting to know each other through the medium of exchanging costumes.

Also: You wait for a friending meme, and two come along at once. This one's on the Dreamwidth side, for those who've made the leap.
