330) The Odds Against - Margaret Pargeter
Ever since his fiancée Victoria Waterfield had walked out on him to marry someone else, Jamie McCrimmon had been a changed man, bitter and suspicious of all women - and the Second Doctor, who had loved him for years, was very worried about him. Nevertheless, had he done the right thing in agreeing to marry him? It was obvious that, although he found him attractive - wanted him, in fact - Jamie didn't love him; not only that, he would go running back to Victoria if he ever got the chance! Could such a one-sided marriage possibly work?
(ETA: Or, of course, swap them over, with River replacing Victoria).
