Well, I'd watch it. It does seem sort of BBC3-ish in tone and concept, I think, and under those circumstances I think it'd either be a seemingly unlikely hit like Being Human or, as here, a one-series wonder and perhaps future cult. I like the casting - the presumable one-episode guest stars are the closest thing to "names" (and only one real name-type-"name") - seems more believable. Not that we rate these things in terms of believability...! The TV Tropes page, though, is the real cherry on top. ;) And I learned a bit about railway history from your links too, something I know disturbingly little about.
