A quick roundup of my continuing AI generator experiments.

The NovelAI generator has the ability to create an image based on one it is given as a template. So I gave it liadt's picture of Regency Zoe and Victoria (for 'Genius and Geniality') and it turned them into this.

I also told it to create a picture of two Regency brunettes from scratch, and it came up with this.

My other experiments have been with the demonstration version of InferKit. Getting it to write fanfic is one thing, but you can feed it all sorts of other stuff and try and get it to play along. It struck me that it could make a useful prompt generator.

For instance, you could give it the 500 prompts from the 500 Prompts Meme, and ask it for some more. As usual, this marks the spot where the machine intelligence takes over.

500. And did you finally get the chance ; To dance along the light of day?

Then I tried asking it about the Twelve Characters Meme.

How would you feel if 7 / 8 was canon?
Which of 9's teeth would you lick? How much of a woman would 10 need to be to pass on 2? Do you think the Krieger brothers and 2 are a good match for each other? Would you shag a guy with a penis that's 3 sizes bigger than yours? (What in the name of Klono's iridium intestines is that one doing in there, generator?)
What would you want a shy 3 / 7 / 9 fic to have happen to it? How would you explain a 9 / 12/6 scene to an 11/9 Kermie? If 3 / 7 made out with 7, what would be the results? You are 11 and the guys keep asking you to go on dates, what would you say no to? (Generator, you're being creepy again)Would 7 shag 9? How would you describe 6's sexy pants? Would 10 shag 11? Would 7 shag 8? (Generator, you are obsessed. Please stop.)

Maybe it would work better with thisbluespirit's revised list of questions?

7 has got to save the world from 8. Is the world saved or doomed?
9 and 6 make the ultimate 007/Top Gun/Mad Max/Cops & Robbers crossover. What do they get up to? If 11 and 7 split up, then would 11 continue his pirate career? What happens when 11 gets framed? What would 7 do for a date? If 4 and 5 were in a relationship, would it work? How do 4 and 5 feel about living together? 'Aliens try to make 2, 6 and 12 do it. Do they have any luck?' If 9 and 4 get in a struggle, who would win? What if 4 and 5 switch roles? How would that go down? What's the worst thing that could happen to 5 in his plan? 9 and 8 are bounty hunters. How do they team up? 10 wants to find out about 6 and 11. Who does he ask? 8's job is to make a comic of 11 and 5 (with a twist). How does it turn out? 9 and 8 become best friends. What happens? If 11 loses 11, 11 loses… Who is going to help 12 become a teenager? 11 saves 7. But why? What happens if 2 loses 9? What happens if 6 loses 8? 7, 3, 8, 7, 5, 4, 2, 5, 8 and 9 [Kate Walters] are in the lift and that's quite enough of that.

(I thought at first the last one would be "... but always get shot". I think we've all seen fictional relationships like that).

In another experiment, I tried to kick off an imaginary forum discussion about old TV. It took a couple of goes for the generator to grasp the format, but after that there was no holding it.

Another thing I tried was giving it some calufrax recs for fics with Martha. It seemed to grasp the notion of outputting fic recs, but was a mite hazy on the fandom let alone the presence of a specified character:

How about ficathon rules? I gave it rules 1-3 from the most recent Unconventional Courtship challenge, and asked it what came next.

All fics must be over 1,000 words long. All art must be a nice finished sketch at least 500x500 pixels wide.

You must use a modified Mills & Boon and/or Harlequin summary.

You don't have to use a beta, but it is strongly advised.

All fics should be related to the RWP universe.
If it's not canon, it's probably not allowed.
Each fic must be signed with your name, then your handle, then your picture. If you want to, you can sign your name and use a picture of your character in a certain pose, but we'd prefer a full picture.
Entries will be accepted until Monday, April 29th, midnight EST.
At the end of the fic, you will need to state why it isn't canon and/or the names of the characters, and why your character is doing/being the things they're doing/being in the situation they're in.
Yes, you can write and publish it for free if you want. However, if you decide to put it up on DA, your story will be reviewed and your ratings will be given out. At the end of the fic you will need to give us 1 + star ratings if your story is a fic, 3 stars if it's an artwork.

Well, they look like ficathon rules. Of a sort, anyway.

I wonder if it can deduce the rules for Mornington Crescent? The rules here look like a suitable starting point.

1. The object of the game is to reach Mornington Crescent before the opposition, whether the players play individually or in pairs.
2. The starting station must be randomly selected.
3. A move can be initially in any direction.
4. The players take it in turns to move.
5. No move can cross an existing move. 6. No move can begin in a "go" position. 7. No move may be challenged as to whether it can be played. 8. A draw is declared if the two players cannot play from the same start position for any reason. 9. During a play, the player who is leading the proceedings must say "So far, so good." 10. A game of golf may be played on the oval. 11. A third player may be requested if the two players cannot play alone. 12. A ninth pair may be requested if only two pairs are available. 13. In the event of a dispute, the challenge is issued to the other party. 14. If a player has a pronounced or noticeable objection to a play, it may be raised without being carried out. 15. Should a move be made that is deemed to be wrong and which leads to the expiration of the challenge, no play is possible.

Hmm, I think that one needs a little more flavour in the prompt text.

Goodness. My chronic inability to not read the 12 Characters Meme as being full of Doctors has just gotten considerably more concerning.

Some of the Genremixer ones are pretty good. It’s kind of funny how hard it tries to guess character names. I would love to know about Duncan, Lloyd, and Stardust.

(Did you know the average companion is called Josephine Sinclair? I worked it out once. Well, depending on how you define ‘companion’ exactly, there are a couple of possible first names. But there are more Sinclairs than any other single surname.)

I don’t know, I’ve probably written some things that might have benefited from “At the end of the fic, you will need to state why it isn't canon and/or the names of the characters, and why your character is doing/being the things they're doing/being in the situation they're in”!

Josephine Sinclair is also obviously the commander of a genderswapped Babylon 5. She must have a busy life.

I'm afraid I'll have to wait until next week when I get some more free goes on the generator to see if I can get it to divulge who Duncan, Lloyd and Stardust are.
