Very nice - brings back a lot of memories too. The idea of various crossover parties having a run through the old castle to amusingly unpleasant effect ("Sidestep to the left...no, I meant the right!" "Ooh, nasty...") could be a nice little fic meme, I think.

I actually think I read a couple of those spinoff books back in the day; can't really remember anything about them, however...
