Hmm, let's see, someone else will probably request "Doctor Who"... ;-)

...The Collected Works of GK Chesterton, or whatever bits of them you've read? (This brought on by the recent discussion of Flambeau's hypothetical spaceship. ^_^ I thought Father Brown had a bit limited possibilities as a fandom by itself.)

Or if that doesn't work out, Sapphire & Steel.

Seems to me that Sapphire & Steel would be even more limiting than GKC, as regards number of characters. Let's see...

Favourite character(s):

There are so many to choose from! Gabriel Syme, the Man in the Dark Room, Father Brown himself of course.

Favourite pairing(s):

Thinking over the stories I've read, it seems to be quite rare for a pairing to be the focus of the action; the spotlight seems to fall much more on people as individuals. And, of course, when most of the couples only show up in one short story and never again, there isn't much opportunity to develop them. I suppose that leaves me with Captain Gahagan / Joan Varney.

Least favourite character(s):

Sir Arthur Vaudrey's a particularly loathsome specimen, but then he's meant to be.

Least favourite pairing(s):

Norman Bohun / Mrs Barnes.

I pity/feel sorry for:

Horne Fisher.

I'd be best friends with:

I'm not sure about this. But possibly John Boulnois; I think I would share his preference for a quiet night in with a murder mystery over private theatricals.

Go shopping with:

King Auberon.

Karaoke/Dancing with (I can neither sing nor dance, so it doesn't much matter which):

The Council of Days.

Which 4 characters would I want to be stuck in a zombie apocalypse with:

Gabriel Syme, Inspector Ratcliffe, McIan and Father Brown. The first three to fight the zombies off, and Father Brown to give us the last rites if that fails.

Who would I sleep with:

I don't think I've ever thought of Chesterton characters in that way; and in general, the ones I might incline to are already halves of couples that I wouldn't want to break up.

Who would I kiss:

The same caveat about breaking up couples applies; but failing that, I think Olive from 'The Green Man'.

Bake a cake for:

If I can stretch a point by bringing in an adaptation, the recent BBC version of Father Brown.

Take over the world with:

Sunday.

OK, that was hard.

I'm not sure I could have sensible answers for S&S. One question I think does deserve a little discussion is which four characters should I be stuck in a zombie apocalypse with. I have a nasty suspicion that whether it was (on the one hand) the four canonical Elements or (on the other hand) Mr Shape and the three canonical Transient Beings, I'd end up dead or worse. Basically, if you're in the presence of high-powered S&S characters of any alignment, invading zombies are the least of your worries.

I'm only familiar with Through the Dragon's Eye and Dark Towers, so I think it's going to be rather tricky answering a lot of the questions. I shall think about it some more.

The late Tall Knight is a cert. To accompany him, the two most powerful are Charn and Gorwen, but I can't see them cooperating even in the face of a zombie apocalypse. Perhaps if the three Keepers have a functioning Veetacore with them, and the knowledge to use it, they could reverse the apocalypse?

Who would I sleep with:

There's only one adult human female in the cast of those two stories, so that doesn't leave me with much of a choice.

Who would I kiss:

See above. Also, aren't these two questions in the wrong order?

Doris.

Take over the world with:

What a choice! The only one who wants to take over the (or a) world is Charn, and I don't think any allies of his would last too long. On the other hand, Benger and Bunce's level of competence is such that they'd have difficulty taking over a jellied eel concession, let alone a planet. Hmmm... I suppose if the three Keepers have a functioning Veetacore with them, etc.

Thanks for answering silly questions:) Towser might be good in a zombie apocalypse, Zombies tend to stick to cannibalism as a rule.
