AO3 stats meme

Yoinked from [personal profile] thisbluespirit:
Rules: give us the links to your fics with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the fewest words.

Most hits:

Persistence (Persuasion by Jane Austen, Anne Elliot/Frederick Wentworth, modern day AU. 7083 hits, 8209 words.)

At a rough guess, the Austen fandom on AO3 must be something like four times larger than the bits of Who fandom who are / were my usual readers.

Second most kudos:

Noblesse Oblige (Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Elizabeth Bennet/Fitzwilliam Darcy. 180 kudos, 147 words.)

Seems ridiculous to me that a hastily tossed-out ficlet gets so much kudos, but as I've said before, canonical Austen pairings seem to be where it's at.

Third most comment threads:

Exchange Students (Doctor Who (This Time Round), Jamie, Sam, Victoria, Isobel, Gwendoline Lacey, high school AU, 8028 words, 10 comment threads.)

This was just because of a flurry of comments when it originally went live. I posted it in chapters over time, and some dedicated readers commented on more than one chapter as they went up. That said, there have been plenty of other stories that I posted in instalments and the same thing didn't happen, so maybe something about a mirror universe high school AU generates interest. Or controversy.

(Storytime: Macbeth had a lot of engagement when originally posted on USENET but unfortunately USENET comments don't show up in AO3 stats. The same applies to Teaspoon comments on a handful of other fics).

Fourth most bookmarked:

The Problem of Darley Place (Sherlock Holmes / Miss Marple, Holmes, Watson, Jane Marple. 2843 words, 16 bookmarks)

I usually like it when bookmarks have a comment on them (though "haven't read" can be discouraging) and this one doesn't disappoint: the seventh bookmark has the comment "How am I only the seventh bookmark???"

Fifth most words:

Genius and Geniality (Doctor Who (Season 6B), Victoria, Zoƫ, OCs. 30233 words)

One that started as a vignette, and grew, mainly because I liked the title.

Shortest:

There are two that through some flaw in AO3 register as having 0 words (Storytime: The Three Garridebs and They That Mourn). But those aside, Fashion Victim (Doctor Who, Eighth Doctor, Grace Holloway. 85 words) which was from a five-sentence fic meme and happened to get posted individually rather than as a chapter in a collection.

The het lit fandom hits are real! I haven't got any Austen ones, but it definitely shows, and a lot of hits/guest kudos and comments rather than members. They visit AO3 like ghosts, looking for lit het to devour but they don't own up to it.

Seems ridiculous to me that a hastily tossed-out ficlet gets so much kudos,

This is, according to pretty much everyone doing this meme, the Law.
