Amy put her hands on her hips.

"Can't you come up with anything new?" she said, sweeping one hand around to encompass the reservoir, the stepping stones, the gushing pipe and the two buckets. "All this is like one of those gameshows from years back. So I end up with four quarts in the big bucket and then what?" She gave him a bright smile. "Do I get a crystal?"

"You get to live," the Toymaker retorted. "And by the way, that isn't water. It's acid. Try not to fall in."

He vanished.

"Ah," Amy said. "Slightly more difficult, then."
