30) Do you have a favourite fic you've written? What makes it your favourite? And don't forget to give us a link!
Fond as I am of Ac Velut in Somnis and others, I think my overall favourite remains Relaxation and Recreation. because )

28) Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?

As I mentioned back at the beginning, one of my earliest efforts in fanfic was to join the Dark Carnival round-robin. Sadly, that petered out rather than come to a successful conclusion. I think in part this was because it had split into several plot threads and there weren't enough writers willing / able to carry each thread forward.

That round-robin was the closest I've come to collaboration; I've occasionally written sequels to others' works, and [livejournal.com profile] liadtbunny kindly drew an illustration inspired by Genius and Geniality, but I think those are further from what I'd think of as collaboration than round-robin chapters.

26) What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?

What is this 'research' of which you speak?

I think the most fun I had whilst (notionally) researching, was visiting the Romney Marsh at the time I was writing Death on the Marsh. I got to ride on the steam railway and walk around the streets of Dymchurch on a nice sunny day.

25) Music – Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
In general, no, I don't listen to music while writing. The exception is one Zoë-fixit that was written to the soundtrack of a game I was playing at the time. I never liked it enough to post, though; Zoë really was a bit too Sueish, even by my standards.

24) Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
I don't, as a rule, use beta-readers at all. When I started writing I did once run a draft past the LJer who'd suggested I write that particular fic, but she didn't suggest changing anything so I haven't repeated the process. Now and again that means a stupid typo has crept into the posted work, but for the most part I think I've got away with it.

23) When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
As a rule, I upload to an archive site (Teaspoon and AO3 for Doctor Who fanworks, or just AO3 for everything else). Then I post a link on my personal journal, and/or the relevant community. The exceptions tend to be things like comment-fic, where they languish in their original comments and are never seen again.

It's still Day 22 if you use GMT — that's my excuse, anyway.
22) Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favourite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?
I've participated in a number of fests or other writing challenges, but my favourite to be in was [community profile] unconventionalcourtship. The prompts not only give you the gamut from straightforward romance to almost-gen adventure to utterly bonkers crack, but ready-made plot outlines. The rules aren't particularly onerous, which reduces the pressure, and there are no worries about being assigned a prompt which can't be written. And then there are all the fake novel covers, too. Writing hasn't flowed particularly easily for me this year, but my three UC fics just came tumbling out.
