As far as I can see, Clara's only reason for doing what she does is a predestination paradox: she does it because the Doctor's remarks led her to the inescapable conclusion that she'd already done it.
And your other point's bang on the money: 'how she feels about the Doctor' is another thing we don't know about Clara.
