16) Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

To answer the second question first: With difficulty, for the most part. Particularly when the fic has a nonstandard premise (for example, an alternate universe where the half the cast run a delicatessen and the other half dig drains) and I've got to come up with a concise description of it all.

I do try to make the effort, nonetheless, since I know how useful they are when I'm reading rather than writing. That said, I have two fics on AO3 which don't have a summary. Currently one has the second-highest hit count and third-highest kudos of all my fics, and the other has the third-highest hit count. Maybe I should take the summaries off some of the others and see what happens...
