21) Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?

Yes, for a variety of reasons. One would be where I wrote a fic to be a response to events in canon or fandom, and as the events unfolded, so did the fic. Another situation would be where I was picking up a prompt, and found it fitted well with a premise and cast of characters I'd already used. In that case, why not use them again?

From time to time someone might leave a comment on something I've written asking for a sequel. (Or in extreme cases, more than one person; Extra-Curricular Activity had about three). That doesn't necessarily mean I'd run off and start writing one, but it does get me thinking about what sort of sequel could be written.

There are some sequel requests I've discounted, because the fic was intended as a one-off in a particular setting, and I decided I'd used up all the potential of that setting, leaving nothing for a sequel. Case in point: one of the reviews on A Gest of UNIT asked for a sequel, but I'd packed as many Robin Hood clichés as I could into the story, not really leaving enough for the hypothetical sequel.
