Title: Plumbing's Very Important
Author: John Elliott
Characters: Blue Suit Doctor, Rose
Rating: All ages
Word count: 100
Prompt: #145, 'Water'
Disclaimer: "Doctor Who" characters belong to the BBC.
Author's notes: It's a drabble. And a sonnet. And probably
a floor wax and a dessert topping as well.
"Now that," the Doctor muttered once again,
"Is still the thermostatic overflow.
"Annoying, that. It means I can't explain
"Exactly where this pipe's supposed to go..."
Tracing the pipes, rejoicing in his lot,
The Doctor let the plumbing fill his mind.
Thus occupied, he totally forgot
The stopcock Rose had sent him there to find.
Half-drowned one floor below, Rose cursed her fate.
Torrents poured unabated from above.
"Doctor!" she called. "All this research can wait
"Until you've turned the water off, my love!"
"Two minutes," he replied. "I'm nearly done."
The flooding brought the ceiling down in one.
